We had some down in Florida, and we used a particular spray to get rid of them. I forget the exact name of it, but it was an over-the-counter fire ant spray that we picked up at the local Home Depot. It blasted them away, and we have yet to have them return. We have also used Eliminator Ant Killer Dust, and this did a good job of removing the ants. If you see an active ant trail, or mound, sprinkle a healthy portion of this on the ants. They will carry it back into the nest and poison the rest of the ants. However, be sure to keep pets away. The product says that it should not harm them, but I did not want to take any chances.
